I am a technician with Northwest Imports. I have been with them on and off for the last 8 years. I started out working part time in high school. I would work with the inventory, pickup or take customer to work or home, picking up parts, do oil changes. I continued working while attending ACC and then summers while attending Texas State University. I graduated Cum Laude in 2013 with a B.A. in Business. I recently started working full-time at Northwest Imports. The training I received over the past eight years working with Dave and the other technicians has given me the ability to handle most automotive repairs and if I run into something I don’t understand the many years of experience Zack, Craig and Dave make it easy to learn. So far my love of cars and working with my hands has kept me in the automotive world.
Favorite Food: Mexican, specifically the steak a la Mexicana at Jardin Corona.
Dream Car: Porsche GT3, if I could convince Jeannette to let me have one.
I am the owner, or as my Dad used to say, “chief cook and bottle washer” or as I tell my sons the jack of all trades, it just goes with small business ownership. I grew up in the small town of LaGrange, Texas and graduated from high school there in 1978. While in high school I also work at Jansen Brothers which was an AMC cars and GMC truck dealer with along with almost every conceivable farm implement. I also worked at a small shop called Teajen’s Automotive repairing mostly import cars, yes import cars in small town Texas, there weren’t a lot, but somehow it seemed like every VW, Subaru or Opel around found us. After high school I attended TSTI in Waco, now TSTC, to study automotive technology which was much simpler back then. After working at a couple of places in Waco I moved to Austin working first for Lamar VW until an opening came up at Porsche + Audi of Austin. There I received factory training with Porsche, Audi and Rolls Royce. I worked my way up to shop foreman, which in turn lead to me leaving to start my own business at the end of 1984.
Here it is 30 years later and I’m still doing it, with a few changes, like getting married to Jeannette and being blessed with four children, Andrew, Josh, Anne and Elizabeth. My life is much broader now than just cars, but I still enjoy diagnosing a difficult problem or helping people make decisions about taking care of their cars.
